The Headless Horseman Bog

I was walking home from school with my friend Morgan. It was only a few days until Halloween. Morgan and I were talking about are costumes.

”What are you going to be Morgan?”, I asked.

“I'm going to be a vampire”, Morgan said with an evil grin.

"Stop it!", I yelled, "You're scaring me!".

"So", said Morgan."What are you going to be?"

Then I stopped. I felt a raindrop on my arm. Morgan and I ran to our homes. I opened the door and my dog, Breeze, came running down and jumped all over me.

"Down, Breeze, Down.”

Breeze looked up at me, and then she went upstairs to lie down. Then the phone rang. I picked it up, and it was Morgan.

“Hi”, said Morgan. "Now, what are you going to be for Halloween".

Then I heard my mom yell "SUPPER IS READY!”

"I will tell you tomorrow", I said to Morgan, and I hung up the phone.

The next morning, when I went out the door, Morgan was right there waiting for me. I walked down the steps and started to walk with Morgan.

"WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE FOR HALLOWEEN!" yelled Morgan.

"It's a secret" I said.

"Hey", said Morgan, "It's going to be a full moon tomorrow night".

"A full moon?", said an old man, who was walking by."The legend - the legend of Billy Mike! I will tell you the legend of Billy Mike, kids."

“A long, long time ago" said the old man, "Billy Mike was riding his horse, through the forest, down River Road. Now, River Road is gone”, said the old man. “Anyway, then it came, the Headless Horseman! It chased Billy Mike into a bog, and Billy Mike is in that same bog - waiting for a full moon - waiting for victims."

At school, I was silent. At lunch, I was silent. At recess, I was silent. When I was walking home with Morgan, he asked "Do you want to go to River Road forest, and see if the legend is true or not?"

"Yes,” I said. “At nine o'clock tomorrow night, meet me there.” I went up my driveway and opened the door. My dog ran to jump up on me. "No, Breeze, no".

Then my mom said, "SUPPER IS ON THE TABLE!!!”. So I ate my supper, and went to my bedroom.

All night long, I thought about Billy Mike. The next day was Saturday. All morning, all afternoon, until it was night, I was excited. It was Halloween!!. I went out the door and saw Morgan.

Morgan saw me, too."Hi", said Morgan. "You're a pirate!", he yelled.

Then he and I ran into the forest. We walked and walked, until Morgan stepped in something squishy. It was a bog!!!

"Help!", yelled Morgan. I put a stick out to him, and Morgan grabbed the stick. I pulled Morgan up. Then he and I turned around, and we saw a headless horseman. We both yelled "AHHH!!", and we ran.

Then the headless horseman threw his head. It rolled down my arm and into my hand, and said:

"Want to go and get some French fries?”

I said, “Sure." So Morgan and I and the head ran down the road.
